07 October 2026

In this Ecosystem News section, discover organizations that are helping advance and promote clinical research across Quebec.

For more than 25 years, Seriant has been supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and academic partners in the planning and execution of clinical research projects. Headquartered in Quebec and operating internationally, the organization provides full-service support for Phase I-IV clinical trials across a wide range of therapeutic areas, such as cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, oncology, neurology, infectious diseases, and more.

Seriant’s core expertise lies in managing complex clinical trials from study start-up through the generation of robust and reliable data. Its multidisciplinary teams provide services spanning project management, clinical operations and monitoring, regulatory affairs, data management, biostatistics, medical writing, pharmacovigilance, medical oversight, and quality assurance.

One of Seriant’s key differentiators is its unique business model which can create opportunities for complementary funding for certain eligible projects, including grant and co-funding programs available through academic-industry collaborations.

As a division of the Montreal Heart Institute, Seriant operates as a stand-alone business with access to extensive clinical networks, specialized infrastructure, and leading scientific expertise.

Seriant also developed MeTRO, a validated clinical trial platform supporting decentralized/hybrid studies. Compliant with 21 CFR Part 11 and GDPR requirements, à la carte modules include prescreening, e-consent, IWRS, visit scheduling, investigational product management, e-adjudication, ePRO/eCOA, and a participant portal and app.

Among its many accomplishments, Seriant highlights its role in the international COLCOT (COLchicine Cardiovascular Outcomes Trial) study. The organization managed the trial from start-up through global execution, statistical analysis, and publication. The study enrolled 4,745 participants across 167 research sites in 12 countries and demonstrated that low-dose colchicine significantly reduced the risk of ischemic cardiovascular events following myocardial infarction. Published in the New England Journal of Medicine, the study has since been referenced in major cardiovascular guidelines, illustrating the global impact that Quebec-led clinical research can achieve.

Seriant manages clinical trials across its network of 4,500+ sites in 35+ countries, demonstrating the scalability of its operations.

As clinical research continues to evolve, Seriant adapts its approach to meet the changing demands of clinical development, helping sponsors accelerate development programs while maintaining scientific rigour and operational excellence. By collaborating closely with sponsors, sites, and ecosystem partners, Seriant draws on its 25+ years of clinical research expertise to help sponsors deliver development programs locally and globally, making it a partner of choice for clinical trials.
